I survived the flight to San Francisco, but it felt like it would never end. Even more gruelling was the line at the car rental place. I thought we'd never get out of the airport! But get out we did.
We finally found the hotel after driving around a bit... lots of one way streets... I hate that. Then when we pulled up to the hotel, the nice man in the suit and top hat told us we had to go around a few more blocks and drive into a different entrance. We had already visited all these streets on our first go-around, so no problem, right? Except for that first wrong turn. But we eventually made it.
While checking in, the Senior Sales Manager for our event came to welcome us. Turns out they've got a couple of prime seats for tomorrow's baseball game. We kept the night open, so now we'll be going to the game. I think we'll need to invest in some warmer clothes before we go. It is a night game, after all, and we packed for the 90 degree weather we left behind, not the 60 degree weather we came into.
We got ready for our meeting with the PR firm, and took a taxi over... you can't get lost that way. Had a one-hour power meeting :) and then walked back to the hotel.
Back in my room, and now I'm feeling the love. Our event gurus have left a personalized card, cheese, crackers, fruit, and some lovely gourmet cookies. The strawberries are delicious, and I think I'll have the pear and banana for breakfast.
That's all for now, I've got to get ready for dinner. Wish I could have taken a nap, but I wouldn't have been able to sleep, I would have worried about waking up in time. Well, that, and messing up my hair.

San Francisco bound
Well, the weekend is here and it's time to get packing for San Francisco. I'll be leaving on Monday, and coming home on Thursday, with lots of appointments in between. But I have no doubt that it will be a fun trip.
I have a new laptop carry on bag that I got for my birthday; I'll get to use it for the first time. I have to go shopping for Tastykakes to take with me. (Will they never find their way westward?) A few things to buy, and all of my packing to do. I did laundry, but I'll have to check and see if I need to do more

The photo is of me with my family at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco... was this 2007 or 2006? Good Lord, I can't remember! But, I do remember we had lots of fun on our trip. (sorry the photo's so small)
Do you have any recommendations of where I should visit while in San Francisco?

Mojito madness

Well, maybe "madness" is a bit overboard, but I had my first ever taste of a Mojito on Sunday night. I normally wouldn't even consider trying a drink, or much of anything else, with mint in it, but I was feeling a bit adventurous, so I tried it. It was yummy! Who would have guessed?
What kind of drinks you find refreshing on a hot summer evening?

A first
I decided that if every Tom, Dick and Harry can blog, well so can I! About what? Who knows! A little of this and a little of that. It's okay if I'm the only one to read it, really. I don't mind having a myspace page and a facebook page with zero friends and zero visits.... really. So one more place that no one visits is no problemo.
Maybe some day I'll even have some beautiful scenic shots that so many post to their blogs. That could catch someone's interest, right? And I could write about books I've read. I like David Baldacci, Jeffrey Deaver, Stephen King, and many others.
Let's see, what else could I blog about? I'm afraid I'm not too interesting, and don't lead a thrilling life, but as a wise man once said, It is what it is. And that's okay. I'm active in my church. I teach Sunday school during the school year, and I'm involved with a prayer shawl ministry which I enjoy a great deal. I'm also taking a three year lay ministry course, which is a big commitment. There's so much to learn! I work full time for a magazine (maybe more on that later) and I get to travel a bit, which I love.
I'll be going to San Francisco on July 21 (I live in PA). Just my luck that my sister, who lives just outside of San Francisco, will be coming home to PA for a visit on the very day that I leave for San Francsico. What are the odds? But her visit is longer than mine, so she'll still be here for 2 or 3 days after I return. I'll be home for 4 days (just enough time to catch up on the laundry), and then it'll be time to leave on vacation. This time I'll be going to Colorado to visit my other sister and her family. I'll be gone for 10 days, and I'm going all by my lonesome... no offense to the rest of my family, but I'm going to LOVE having all of this time with my sister. A change of scenery is a beautiful thing. Especially when the new scenery contains the Rocky Mountains. Maybe I will get some of those great scenery shots.
So, what do you think of my first post? (Please don't hurt my feelings.)
